RESORT QUEST HAS INDUSTRY LEADING PROGRAM TO ENSURE IDEAL SKI CONDITIONS

DENVER, CO – Having to roll the dice on ski conditions when booking a winter vacation is a frequent worry for many travelers, but with the innovative Snow Guarantee Program® from ResortQuest, there are no more guessing games. The Snow Guarantee ® is a quality assurance program that is offered at all of the ResortQuest Western ski destinations, including eight of the nation’s top ski resorts.

The ResortQuest Snow Guarantee ® allows guests to relocate their accommodations to another ResortQuest destination up to seven days prior to arrival if snow conditions do not meet their expectations. The guarantee encourages guests to book travel early and ensures optimal ski conditions.

“It truly was a lifesaver and salvaged our vacation,” says Pat Sudak of Scottsdale, Ariz., who took advantage of the Snow Guarantee®. “For a company to respond so quickly and have a new condo waiting for us in another location in less than 24 hours was truly amazing.”

With over 3,000 properties available in top resorts including Aspen, Breckenridge, The Canyons, Deer Valley, Keystone, Park City, Steamboat, Sun Valley and Telluride, guests have a wide variety of lodging accommodations from which to choose. ResortQuest offers homes, condominiums and suites with a broad selection of price points and amenities.

“The start to the 2007-08 ski season was a little slower for some resorts, so when they weren’t able to open in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday, we were able to relocate some of those guests to other locations with better snow conditions,” said Annie Turri, Director of Marketing for ResortQuest Breckenridge. “No other vacation rental company has the ability to offer such a comprehensive program across so many resort destinations. We always make it a priority to ensure that our guest’s vacation meets their every expectation, and the Snow Guarantee® is just one more resource that helps us do that.”

Guests who take advantage of the Snow Guarantee® will not lose their deposit and can rebook within seven days of their scheduled arrival date. There are no upgrade or change fees associated with using the program. This offer is available throughout the 2008-09 ski and snowboard season on any existing or new reservation. (Some restrictions do apply.)

RENTAL SKI DELIVERY SERVICE

B

RENT EQUIPMENT THE EASY WAY, IN YOUR ROOM, WITH SKI BUTLERS

PARK CITY, UT – Ski Butlers is proud to announce Telluride as its newest location, opening for the 2008-09 ski season. “We are excited about our expansion into Telluride. It is a great opportunity to offer another world class ski destination to our customers,” said Bryn Carey, founder and President of Ski Butlers.

Founded four years ago in Park City, Utah, Ski Butlers has become the leader in in-room fitting. Ski Butlers serves over 25 resorts in California and the Rocky Mountains, including the top eight in SKI Magazine’s Top 50 Resort Rankings. In addition to its extensive network of resorts, Ski Butlers has designed the industry’s most userfriendly reservation system that allows customers to create accounts and store their information online from vacation to vacation and resort to resort.

Skiers and snowboarders visiting these major ski resorts across the U.S. can enjoy hassle-free in-room fitting of ski and snowboard equipment without leaving their accommodations. This new service is growing increasingly popular among skiers and riders in the know. Ski Butlers, an innovative leader in the ski delivery business, stresses that this is a high quality service without a big price tag.

“Our goal is to take the stress out of renting skis and all the hassles associated with going to a rental shop, standing in line, and lugging all the equipment back to your lodging. Now you can set up an appointment and a team of qualified ski technicians will come to you at your convenience,” said Carey. Words like convenience and stress-free are normally not associated with ski rentals.

As airlines continue to raise their baggage fees, ski rental delivery is becoming more and more popular among people in the know. “Most airlines are charging anywhere from $15 to $50 per checked baggage,” says Carey. “For skis, airlines are charging $100 to $175 one-way, which could cost up to $350 round trip just to check your skis. With our high quality equipment and hassle-free service, it is almost a no brainer.”

Currently, Ski Butlers operates at the following locations: Heavenly, Kirkwood, and Sierra in California; Aspen, Snowmass, Highlands, Buttermilk, Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper, A-Basin, Telluride, Vail, Beaver Creek, and Arrowhead in Colorado; Park City, Deer Valley, The Canyons, and Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons in Utah; Jackson Hole in Wyoming; and Whistler/Blackcomb in British Columbia.

Ski Butlers features high quality equipment from industry leaders like Rossignol, Volkl, Nordica, Dolomite, Marker, Fischer, and Elan in five performance levels: sport, high performance, and high performance plus for adults, and junior and junior performance for children 12 and under. As a full service rental shop, Ski Butlers also rents helmets, boot dryers, and two-way radios.

When the ski technicians arrive they are supplied with a variety of sizes and types of skis and boots, which guarantees proper fit. “Everyone was happy including the veteran skier in our bunch who promised me equipment delivery would not work because her boot size was very hard to get just right. Your team had plenty of extra boots on hand and fixed her up in no time,” commented Mr. Bill Houghton of Atlanta, Ga.

In-room fitting is a new concept being driven by today’s guests who want to maximize their vacation time and experience. “Renting skis has always been the major drawback of our ski vacations,” stated Mike Wilson of Cincinnati, Ohio. “Your over-thetop service has turned that painful experience into one that is truly enjoyable. Thank you for making our vacation to Vail that much better.”

In addition to renting equipment, Ski Butlers carries an extensive line of accessories, including goggles, sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, gloves, hats, neck gators, and hand and toe warmers.

For more info, go to www.skibutlers.com or via an easily found link on the homepage of www.skiernews.com and you can call Ski Butlers at 1-877-754-7754.

Black Bear glade provides advanced skiing and riding terrain. Copper’s Ski & Ride School programs, including Relaxed Starts, give guests options for lesson start times, while Free Tips allows guests have a free run with a Copper instructor. Beeline Advantage lift tickets allow early risers to enjoy the freedom of skiing and riding by starting their day 15 minutes earlier than regular ticket holders and by speeding through lift lines throughout the day.

COPPER TAKES THE LEGWORK OUT OF VACATION

Copper’s Village Free-Ride is a 5-passenger electric car that cruises the inner parking lots and the Village at Copper offering complimentary rides to guests. The Village Free- Ride service will operate each day. In the evenings, Copper also wants guests to experience the freedom of an intimate resort village. From 5:30 - 9:30 p.m., Village Free-Ride will be “Transportation on Demand”. Copper’s guests may request a ride through the front desk of Copper Mountain Lodging.

KIDS IN THE KITCHEN AT PIZZA CARLO

Copper is inviting the kids into their Kitchen. Kids can roll up their sleeves and make their own pizza. Offered on select evenings, Pizza Carlo will host families and let the kids do the cooking. Kids will have the opportunity to sit at the pizza bar and create the pizza of their dreams. Copper’s chefs will provide the dough and the junior chefs will add the toppings of their choice to invent their family’s pizza. Families who would like to participate are asked to make reservations; space is limited. The Kids in the Kitchen program will be included as part of a special Pizza Carlo dinner package. It is not time for bed yet - Copper PM heats up the night with En Fuego in the Village at Copper from 6 to 8 p.m. for a free street party the whole family will enjoy. Bonfires are scattered throughout the village to keep children’s hands toasty warm; the Ski & Ride School torchlight parade where hundreds of instructors ski down the mountain in a snake-like figure; fire jugglers that dazzle and the grand finale is a brilliant fireworks display. On occasion, En Fuego will feature specialty entertainment, including a big air show with the Copper Mountain Freeride Team, professional ice sculptors, graffiti artists and meet-and-greets with huskies from a dog sledding team. En Fuego happens in the middle of it all just a few steps from the Village shops.

TUCKER MOUNTAIN FREE SNOWCAT

Copper’s free snowcat rides to legendary Tucker Mountain are the essence of skiing and riding liberty: catching a free ride, choosing your own line and never wiping the smile off your face. Tucker Mountain and Copper Bowl offer expert skiers and riders unprecedented access to over 273 acres and 1,200 vertical feet of Copper’s legendary high alpine back bowls. Terrain is accessible by hiking, a free snowcat ride or a combination of both. Snowcat access is on a first-come, first served basis. Cats run from 10:00am – 1:30 pm daily, weather permitting. Cat operations, terrain openings and conditions may vary and are subject to change based on weather. Tucker Mountain closes at 2:00 pm.

RELAXED STARTS

Copper’s Ski & Ride School knows that the guests’ time on the mountain is a day off from the regular grind. So if you are tucked away in your holiday accommodation or stuck behind some traffic due to any number of reasons, no need to rush to get to ski or ride school. Copper’s instructors do not say “sorry the next available lesson time is in the afternoon.” Instead, they have a second lesson start time of 11a m. The price is the same no matter if you start at 10 or 11 a.m.

EXPRESS GROUP LESSONS

Class lessons are for beginners – express Groups are for people that can ski most blue terrain or better (level 4-6) but want an all day experience that includes being shown good snow and terrain for your ability and getting some valuable pointers on your style and tactics on how to handle the elements of Copper.

OVER $4 MILLION INVESTED for 2008-09 TO ADD TO "STEAMBOAT UNBRIDLED" PROJECTS

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO – Over the past three seasons, more than $27 million in on-mountain improvements have been made to the Steamboat Ski Area. This includes more than $4 million invested specifically for the upcoming 2008-09 winter season. Steamboat’s on-mountain momentum augments nearly $8 million in completed and planned public revitalization projects sweeping the mountain village (Steamboat Unbridled).

“We’ve made dramatic improvements to the entire Steamboat vacation experience over the past three years,” said Chris Diamond, president and chief operating officer of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. “On-mountain investments total some $27 million and complement a host of private and public investments in the resort’s base area.”

“Steamboat is legendary for its genuine friendliness and a town whose roots are deeply set in the real West,” continued Diamond. “Our goal is to meet or exceed our guests’ expectations every time, and we’ll expect nothing less going forward. These attributes are what sets Steamboat apart, will remain a mainstay of the experience, and will allow the company to focus on its key initiative – guest service.”

Building upon last year’s record on-mountain capital expenditures, the majority of the 2008-09 season improvements target continued base area re-grading, enhanced snowmaking, and grooming. Also included are parking expansion, additional retail outlets, new rental equipment, automated external defibrillators, IT upgrades and master planning.

2008-09 ON-MOUNTAIN IMPROVEMENTS

Snowmaking

Already a snowmaking leader in the ski industry, Steamboat will spend more than $1 million in improvements to its snowmaking system. The pipe will be replaced extensively on Right-O-Way, See Ya, Bashor, Lower Vagabond and Lil Rodeo. The new pipe is ductile iron pipe from US Snow Pipe.

The pipe is lined with concrete and rated to last an average of 50 years, twice as long as the existing pipe. Steamboat was the first ski resort to invest in this type of pipe, which costs more, but in the long term proves to be more durable and better for the environment. Over the past three seasons, the resort installed more than 70,000 feet of snowmaking pipe, including nearly 20,000 feet this summer. This year’s total pipe length equates to stacking 36 Washington Monuments on top of each other.

Overall, these comprehensive snowmaking improvements provide the highest quality machine-made snow. The resort’s system covers nearly 400 acres of top-to-bottom terrain (3,668 vertical feet) and includes a network of over 300 available hydrants, 4 pump houses across the resort, state-of-theart digital computer operating system and an arsenal of low-energy, high-efficiency snowmaking guns, which use 30 percent less energy than conventional guns while producing the same amount of snow.

Grooming Equipment

New Prinoth BR-500 and BR-350 tower winch grooming machines, powered by six-cylinder, 500- and 350-horsepower engines respectively, will be added to the resort’s fleet for the 2008-09 season. The new BR-500, which stands an amazing 26 feet wide, five feet wider than typical snowcats, excels in power, agility and finishing snow surface. The 500 is 24 percent more productive and will be matched with two top-of-the-line BR-350 Bison machines, acquired last season, able to maintain a 12-miles-per-hour ground speed, one of the fastest in the industry. The BR-350 Tower Winch snowcat utilizes a 3,000-foot wire cable, hydrostatic drive system and powerful C9 engine to handle the steepest terrain on the mountain. This machine is well balanced with superior traction and reduced slipping, resulting in a better quality, finished corduroy product on the steepest inclines. The resort’s grooming fleet, operated in two shifts, resurfaces approximately 545 acres nightly to a premium corduroy finish and encompasses 19 grooming machines.

Meadows Parking Expansion

The Meadows, the remote parking facility, will expand by more than 38,000 square feet on the north end. The new expansion will be able to accommodate roughly 200 additional free parking spaces.

Advanced Life Support/AEDs

Having already been credited with saving the lives of several individuals, the resort will add a Q-CPR automated external defibrillator (AED) unit. This special AED unit, available only on the Philips HeartStart MRx Monitor/Defibrillator, is the first and only comprehensive technology integrated into a monitor/defibrillator that provides real-time CPR monitoring and feedback for both chest compressions and ventilations. The resort first purchased an AED Life Pak 300 during the 1992-93 season. Currently, the resort employs 14 AED units in its rapid response cache.

Steamboat Ski & Sport Downtown

Bringing mountain services downtown for the first time, Steamboat Ski & Sport Downtown occupies 1,670 square feet in the new Howelsen Place development, the premier address in Old Town Steamboat. Situated in the high-energy retail environment on 7th Street between Lincoln and Yampa Avenues, Steamboat Ski & Sport Downtown was expected to open November 2008. It offers convenient access to rentals, retail including official logo merchandise, lift tickets, ski and snowboard school products, and the comprehensive vacation planning services of Steamboat Central Reservations®.

Rental Ski Fleet

Approximately one third of the resort’s ski rental fleet is revamped annually. This winter, $250,000 went toward new skis from the best in the industry, including a selection of the latest equipment from Salomon, Rossignol and Volkl. The new skis will be spread across the resort’s Ski & Sport locations in Gondola Square, Sheraton, Ski Time Square, Steamboat Grand and downtown.

Resort Master Plan

In conjunction with the US Forest Service, the ski area is beginning the initial steps to modify its master plan with industry-leading design firm, Ecosign Mountain Resort Planners Ltd. Ecosign, short for ECOlogical DeSIGN, based in Vancouver, B.C., has firmly established itself as a leader in the design of successful, award-winning and profitable mountain resorts. It has completed over 350 resort-development projects in over 32 countries spanning six continents as well as the design of four Winter Olympic Games and several World Alpine Championship venues.

The resort master plan lays the foundation for possible on-mountain development over the next five to 10 years. The overall encompassing plan addresses issues focusing on capacity, resources, mountain improvements, base area improvements, guest convenience and the overall resort experience.

About Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation

STEAMBOAT HONORED AS THE #1 FAMILY RESORT IN THE WEST

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO — SKI Magazine recently recognized Steamboat as the Number-One Family Ski Resort in the West and the Number-Eight Resort in North America in its October 2008 Top 50 Resort Guide.

“Steamboat is committed to providing premier family packages and programs at outstanding values, factors that make the resort stand out within the travel industry,” said Chris Diamond, president and chief operating officer of the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation. “With our popular family programs, the memory of the record breaking Champagne Powder snow last season and more than $27 million in on-mountain improvements over the past three years, Steamboat continued to be the best choice for families.”

Steamboat’s family programs were ranked 1st in the West and 2nd overall in North America. According to one SKI reader, the “children’s ski school is the very, very best.”

“This marks the 6th consecutive time Steamboat has been ranked as the #1 Family Resort in the West,” said Rob Perlman, vice president of marketing and sales. “These results come at the ideal time, when families are planning their winter resort adventures and, I believe, this places Steamboat as the top choice for their winter vacation both in terms of the breath of family programs and services available, as well as overall value.”

Steamboat pioneered the first Kids Ski Free program in the ski industry more than two decades ago and still offers it today. In 2001, Steamboat unveiled yet another innovative concept to the industry - Kids Fly Free. Always looking for new value for families, the resort launched the perfect peace of mind for parents in 2004 with the revolutionary Steamboat MountainWatch. A year later, the resort’s Ski and Snowboard School tailored private lessons specifically to families. Then, in 2006, the resort launched what has become one of the premier family events in the winter industry, the Family Snow Festival in early January, combining music, entertainment and activities for the entire family.

Steamboat moved up one notch to #8 in the overall Top 50 Resort tally, now in its 21st year, and becomes the eleventh time Ski Town, U.S.A. has been be highlighted in the Top 10 in North America since 1994. In addition, the resort was singled out by readers in the Top 10 for snow, coming in at #8.

Steamboat - Ski Town, U.S.A.® - encompasses 165 trails, 3,668 vertical feet, and nearly 3,000 skiable acres with six peaks filled with world-class groomed cruisers, bumps, steeps, open meadows, legendary trees, Mavericks Superpipe, two terrain parks and the AAA Four Diamond Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel. Over the past three seasons, Steamboat has invested nearly $30 million in on-mountain improvements, including $4 million specifically for the upcoming winter.

The SKI Magazine accolades come in the same month as Skiing Magazine’s ranking of Steamboat as the #1 Place to Tree Ski in North America; Top 5 for Powder; Top 10 for Après Scene; and overall Top 10 Best Resorts on the continent in the magazine’s 1st Resort Awards.

PEAK PROPERTY IS YOUR FRIEND IN BRECKENRIDGE

BRECKENRIDGE, CO — If you had the opportunity, would you call a friend that knew all about your next vacation destination?

Suppose that friend had lived in the area for years and knew the nicest places to stay, the best restaurants to sample, and the fun activities to try. There is one company in Breckenridge that has that kind of knowledge, Peak Property Management. Your friends, in this case, are people who live and play in Breckenridge. They know the best places and have all the answers. Peak Property Management has been in Breckenridge since 1986 helping homeowners and guests from all over the world.

They offer complete travel packages, custom packages and vacation specials to this beautiful and historic town. Your packages can include lodging, lift tickets, airfare, and ground transportation. Peak Property has locations throughout Breckenridge. Choose from ski-in/ski-out, shuttle serviced or secluded sites. These properties range in size from studios to five-bedroom homes. All of the properties are close to the charming Victorian town and the Breckenridge Ski Resort.

When you start to plan your trip, ask yourself these questions: What dates will we arrive and depart the resort? Consider some of the special travel dates during the year. The Ski-Free/Stay-Free program offers a free night of lodging and can include a free day of skiing for each adult in the party (requires at least a multi-night stay and purchase of a multi-day lift ticket, number of days TBD). This long-standing program is in effect before and after Christmas week.

The annual Breckenridge Spring Massive Festival occurs in early April. You can enjoy concerts, competitions, celebrity racing, nightlife, exhibitions, jams, film shoots, kid’s activities, and the legendary spring conditions for which Breckenridge is famous. Other traditional events like the Lighting of Breckenridge occur in early December. The International Snow Sculpture Championships are held in January, and the Ullr Fest winter carnival is also in January. If you are looking for some extra fun, consider visiting Breckenridge during these events. Peak Property offers special lodging rates during each of them.

Next, ask how many people are in the group and what kind of accommodations will we need (are there couples or single people)? Are there any locations or amenities that we wanted (does it have to be close to the slope or more secluded)? Your lodging is usually the most important part of your travel package, so chose a property that meets everyone’s expectations. If you always have dreamed of a cabin in the woods, let the agent know. Maybe being close to town and the slopes is more important to your family or group.

Finally, determine how you are going to get to Breckenridge, by flying or driving? Peak Property offers discounted airfare that can be better than advertised specials or Internet fares. Will you need to rent a car? If so, what kind of car would suit your needs? Also, compare rental car rates against airport shuttle fares. Based on the location of your lodging, you may not need to rent a car and can leave the driving (and gas prices) to someone else. Many times, this will save you money.

Complete your travel package with the following: snowmobile tours, sleigh rides, dog sledding, fly-fishing, horseback riding, hot air balloon flights, scenic tours and more. The choices are yours. Contact the friendly staff at Peak Property Management and they will customize your vacation package to Breckenridge, Colo.

Call them at 1-800-458-7998, or e-mail your request or questions directly to: info@peakproperty.com

THE CANYONS HAS A NEW LIFT and SOMETHING for EVERYONE

PARK CITY, UT – The Canyons Resort, Utah’s largest single ski and snowboard resort, is blessed yearly with the legendary Utah powder that makes the state a haven for winter sports. With over 3,700 acres, 163 runs, 17 lifts, two innovative terrain parks and six natural half pipes, there is never a chance that guests will get bored on the mountain.

Exploring The Canyons is a favorite past time for locals and a memorable experience for destination guests. The best way to get to know the resort is to experience it first hand and immerse yourself in the mountain lifestyle.

New development at the base area of The Canyons is in full swing with a dozen new properties coming aboard within the next three to five years. These range from partial ownership properties to condominium, townhome and singlefamily projects. During the next year, the resort will begin construction on an 18-hole golf course, adding to the plentiful summer offerings.

The Canyons continues to make improvements, taking those never-ending steps toward perfection. New for the 2008-09 season is the Frostwood Pulse Gondola, which will transport guests staying in the Frostwood area to the base of the Flight of The Canyons gondola. This will benefit the Miners Club and the currently under-construction Dakota Mountain Lodge project.

In addition, a brand new, fixed-grip quad chair will run from the Tombstone base to a location approximately onehalf mile below the DreamCatcher lift. The lift is the first step in the IronMountain expansion plans, with using it initially to access the Tombstone lift at the end of the day.

Trees will be gladed in places such as Mystic Pines, off the Peak 5 lift, opening up more tree skiing and riding for guests. The Canyons will also upgrade snowmaking and grooming equipment, guaranteeing a high quality ski experience.

The Second Annual Spring Grüv will be held this season from March 27 to April 5. The resort holds 10 days of contests, concerts, and fun, including the infamous pond skimming. If you missed it last year, do not worry; this year is even going to be bigger and better. Check www.springgruv. com often for updated information on concerts and events leading up to Spring Grüv.

If you cannot make it for Spring Grüv, at least go for a weekend during the spring for The Canyons Saturday Free Concert series in the Resort Village. Make your way down from the slopes, and trade your ski boots for dancing shoes. The Saturday concerts are a great way to après ski.

The Canyons Resort is the perfect destination for your ski vacation. It is only four miles from Park City’s Historic Main Street and an easy 30- minute drive from Salt Lake InternationalAirport. Go for a weekend, a week, or your whole vacation. There is something for everyone.

SOLITUDE MAKES A FAMILY VACATION EASY & DELIGHTFUL

Two new lifts from Solitude's Base will help guests get going quickly

SOLITUDE, UT – You will sense the family-friendly vibe from your first step at Solitude Resort’s village, which feels more like Europe than Utah. Providing a setting for a family winter vacation the way it used to be is no easy task, but Solitude provides the backdrop and makes everything very simple. Starting with the Salt Lake Airport, just 40 minutes away, things remain easy from your arrival. You will be at the resort before you can say “bathroom break.”

From start to finish everything about a Solitude vacation is easy, a credo that is immediately evident before you open your suitcase. Take for instance the Albertsons.com grocery service that delivers your food order before you even arrive. Add to that gourmet dining, a full-service spa and pools, hot tubs and an exercise club all within a stone’s throw. You can spend your entire vacation without ever leaving the cozy village, but it would be a shame to miss the reason you really came: the mountain.

Spreading over 1,200 acres, Solitude has it all. Front-side groomers? Check. Deep powder? Check. Top-Notch Ski School? Check. Two new high-speed quads that access the heart of the mountain? Check. Lift lines? Non-existent. How is this possible, you might wonder? Solitude has spent the past 50 years promising solitude and then delivering it. While you are skiing perfect corduroy or six inches of fresh snow well past lunchtime, other resorts are all tracked up. The word “solitude” really does ring true.

For years, Solitude was a locals-only hill with slow chairs and not much life once the chairs stopped spinning. That has changed with Utah’s newest pedestrian village and several new lifts; allowing high-speed access from both the village and the main parking area. You still notice the locals-only feel because Solitude seems like your own private resort: An annual average of 500 inches of the Greatest Snow on Earth™ set is aside for you and your family to enjoy. The few times you do bump into another family at the bottom of the chair, they all seem to be wearing the same smile that enthusiastically tells you they have found something special.

Yes, Utah is known for its abundant snowfall – idyllic for some, scary to the rest of us mere mortals. At Solitude, it is the family-friendly terrain and grooming where the resort truly shines. A daily routine of tilling, grooming and manicuring all that snow into a smooth carpet of white equals a consistent snow surface all season long. The wide runs that meander down toward the snowy rooftops in the village afford learners the elbowroom to use as much space as they need to experience those first turns.

You will quickly fly through the ranks with Solitude’s Snowsports Academy and be carving turns down one of the dozens of intermediate runs. Some of these blue runs start from the very top of the mountain, offering the experience of being at the top to more visitors, instead of being relegated to the lower slopes common at other places. Not only does this provide that summit experience, it allows a group of friends with different abilities to ride the chair together and choose their respective way down the mountain, meeting up at the bottom to do it all over again.

To expand further the terrain options to more guests, Solitude grooms many of their black runs. In fact, some of the state’s steepest groomed runs can be found here, which many people feel helps bridge the gap from blue runs to steeper powder skiing. It is not too often you find so much confidence- building terrain in one place, but Solitude is designed to please.

You will probably work up quite an appetite carving up the hill. At Solitude, your taste buds will be taken care of. Creekside Restaurant offers hearty portions of vintage European fare in a casual family atmosphere. For the gourmet in you, St. Bernard’s serves a country French cuisine in an unforgettable fireside setting, with an impressive wine list to complement your meal. The Yurt at Solitude provides the most adventurous dining experience you are likely to find – before you even sit at the table. Strap on cross-country skis for the short jaunt through a moonlit forest to a Mongolian yurt where a private chef prepares a five-course gourmet meal in front of your eyes. This memorable experience is then capped off by a quick schuss back to the village on a lantern-lit path. Of course, many families take advantage of the full-service kitchen in each condo to cook a meal together and unwind by the fireplace to recap the day’s events and plan tomorrow’s ski day.

Solitude Mountain Resort truly has all bases covered for a family winter vacation, where choices abound. Experience a place of unrivaled beauty, where priorities slip back into place and you are free to connect with family, friends and with yourself, in a natural environment. The ski vacations of yore are not a memory; they are an experience waiting to happen at Solitude.

Solitude adds two new high-speed quads

Both Solitude Village and the Moonbeam Center at Solitude will feature high-speed lifts for 2008-09.

If you are lodging in the Village or if you are driving from Salt Lake for the day, you will begin the day being whisked up the hill at high speed.

Both of these new lifts will provide easier loading and unloading for guests, along with a quicker ride time by eliminating the frequent starts and stops of fixed-grip lifts.

The new lifts give direct access to beginner and intermediate terrain, which has been graded so it is more suitable for learning

OGDEN'S SECRETS ARE DISCOVERED,

an HISTORIC PAST MEETS GREAT RESORTS and A GROWING DOWNTOWN

OGDEN, UT — Ogden and the Upper Ogden Valley are just 35 to 40 minutes north of Salt Lake International Airport. Skiers and boarders can choose Powder Mountain, Snowbasin and Wolf Mountain to spend their days and either Ogden or the Upper Valley for a wide range of lodging and entertainment. Ogden has properties ranging from a full-service hotel, the Ogden Marriott, and a complete line of motels. The Upper Valley has a mix of new condos, B&B’s and boutique lodges.

Ogden offers locally owned restaurants, shopping and galleries on Historic 25th Street. Roosters a brewpub with great food, and Bistro 258, also on 25th, are recommended. The Junction entertainment complex has added two additional new restaurants to downtown. The Sonora Grill features regional Mexican cuisine in an upscale setting. Iggy’s Sports grill has a wide range food and micro beer selections. At the foot of 25th street is Union Station housing the Utah State Railroad Museum, the John M. Browning Firearms Museum, Eccles Rail Center, and the Browning-Kimball Car Museum, honoring Ogden’s railroad history as the Crossroads of the West. Continuing to grow is the new mixed-use development of restaurants, entertainment venues, commercial and residential units called “The Junction.” It is built in the heart of downtown. The centerpiece is the Salomon Center boasting an IRock climbing facility, a Flowrider surf wave and an IFly sky diving tower. It is an opportunity to extend your outdoor adventures to the indoors. The building also includes a 32- lane bowling alley, billiard room, an arcade with bumper cars and miniature golf, two restaurants and a sports bar. The Salomon Center also has Gold’s Gym for anyone who did not get enough exercise on the slopes.

The Salomon Center is named for one of Ogden’s new corporate citizens. Amer Sports consolidated its Winter and Outdoor Sports divisions and recently relocated to Ogden. Atomic, Salomon and Suunto now call Ogden home. They have joined other outdoor and snow sports related companies who have made Ogden home in the last three years. Descente, Goode, Nidecker. Kahuna, and Snowsports Interactive also chose Ogden for it’s quality of life, which includes it’s accessibility to great skiing and riding as well as climbing, hiking, biking, fishing and kayaking. Both Scott and Rossignol also relocated large distribution facilities to Ogden. The New York Times, Sunset, Ski, Outside and National Geographic Adventure all featured Ogden in articles in 2008 recognizing the community as a recreational haven.

The Upper Valley is often a choice for visitors looking for the quiet and star shot nights of a beautiful high mountain valley. The vistas include mountains on all sides. Highly recommended by locals is Harley and Bucks Grill in the old Eden General Store. For some local color, try a burger at the Shooting Star Saloon in Huntsville. It is the oldest continuously operating bar in the state of Utah.

Ogden and the Upper Ogden Valley are home to outdoor sport enthusiasts who walk the walk. When they are not on the snow, they are hiking, trail running biking, paddling, climbing, bouldering, fly fishing and volunteering. Local residents help make the annual Spring Run-off Marathon, the Xterra Mountain Championship, the Ogden Valley Balloon Festival and the Harvest Moon/Mountain to Metro Games critically acclaimed events. Team Unlimited, who produces the Xterra off-road triathlon series, held the inaugural Xterra Winter World Championship in March of 2008. The event will be held March 6-8, 2009. Organizers credited both the venue and strong local volunteer support for the success of the event. This event includes snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, trail running and rondenee skiing for both professionals and amateurs.

Well, what about the skiing and riding? Simply said, it is world-class. Powder Mountain has 5,500 acres of terrain of which 2800 acres is lift serviced. The rest can be accessed via snow cat, helicopter or short hikes. The all day Powder Safari has been expanded for the 2008-09 season with an additional 1,000 acres of terrain. Powder received national acclaim last year when SKI magazine readers rated it highly for both snow and value in their annual survey. For those who can not get enough during the day, Powder offers night skiing off the Sundown lift.

Not to be outdone, Snowbasin claimed high rankings again for lifts, food and customer service in the SKI readers’ survey. As host to the 2002 Olympic Men’s and Women’s Downhill, Super-G and Combined Events, Snowbasin showcased to the world its great terrain that locals have enjoyed for over 65 years.

Snowbasin relocated and replaced the beginner Little Cat lift with a detachable quad which will greatly enhance the beginner experience and skier flow at the mountain base. Snowbasin’s day lodges and food service are unparalleled in the ski industry. Earl’s Lodge was recently named the best restaurant in Northern Utah by Salt Lake Magazine. Snowbasin also has 25 kilometers of groomed Nordic and snowshoe trails as well as lift serviced tubing. As mentioned earlier, Snowbasin will host the Xterra Winter World Championships March 6-8, 2009.

Wolf Mountain is the best learning mountain in Utah. Inexpensive tickets and night skiing make it attractive to both locals and visitors. As local ski racers and freestyle riders who train on the slopes and in the terrain park can attest, it is not without its challenges.

One of the finest choices the Upper Ogden Valley, near the town of Eden, is the Red Moose Lodge. The Red Moose offers 27 spacious rooms and a variety of suites, all on the first floor. There is a free continental breakfast, free high-speed Internet and a shuttle to the nearby Powder, Wolf and Snowbasin ski areas. For a slightly slower pace, there are 26 miles of cross county ski trails and snowshoeing that provide an opportunity to view the area’s wildlife. The resort also includes three opulently decorated day lodges, a skier services building, equipment rental and skiing and snowboarding lessons.

Powder Mountain Winter Resort (www.powdermountain.com), is one of the largest resorts in North America. After 30 years, the double chair lift at Hidden Lake was replaced with a high-speed detachable quad. The lift capacity will double to 2,400 persons per hour. The lift was manufactured in Salt Lake City by Doppelmayr CTEC.

The planned opening is in mid-December and closing in early April. The Barn, which houses the skier services and restaurant, received a facelift last season.

Wolf Mountain offers 1,000 vertical feet and averages 300 inches of snow per season, with 15 trails on 100 skiable acres. It is 30 percent beginner, 50 percent intermediate and 20 percent advanced. There are two double chairs. Wolf Mountain offers day and night skiing, and is open every day from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. There is no night skiing on Sundays.
