RAIN, THUNDER and LIGHTNING DELAYS MADE for an EXCITING FINISH of the 25th ANNIVERSARY AMERICAN CENTURY CHAMPIONSHIP

MARK RYPIEN, NFL RETIRED QB, WINS with a STABLEFORD SCORING +76, SETTING COURSE RECORDS for the THIRD DAY PLAY.
TAKING HOME the $125,000 1st place prize, RYPIEN also WON the FIRST EVER EVENT in 1990 and FINISHED 2nd in 2012 and 2013.
Annika Sorenstam, LPGA wizard, rallied to tie Jeremy Roenick (NHL retired) for 2nd with +65 points.
Actor Jack Wagner, previous two-time winner, finished 4th with +64 pts.
Day 1 leader, Chad Pfeifer - Iraq War Vet/Amputee, finished 5th with a +61
Olympic and World Cup skiing great - BODE MILLER - finished 39th with a +25.

The event is scored using the "Modified Stableford Scoring" method whereby plus points are awarded for good play, points are deducted for bad play and the highest score wins as explained here:
Double Eagle 10 points • Hole in one 8 points • Eagle 6 points • Birdie 3 points • Par 1 point • Bogie 0 points • Double Bogie -2 points.

And the winner with +76 points is...- Mark Rypien.

July 20, 2014 -Mark Rypien tees off to begin the game winning round on the third day of play. Rypien finished with a +76 Stableford points and set course records for third day play.

Upshaw Scholarship
July 20, 2014 - George Whittell High School student Melissa Petty (lower right) of Stateline, Nev. was is the recipient for the sixth annual Gene Upshaw Scholarship Award. Petty’s essay about her classroom work ethics, sports, faith and goodwill helped secure the scholarship valued at $5,000. Petty plans to attend the University of Nevada, Reno.
