Idaho Springs, Colo. is the highest paved road in North America. As with Hoosier Pass, just south of Breckenidge, oxygen may be scarce but the views are endless and spectacular.

JACKSON'S TOWN SQUARE, WY (07-06-16) -
Jackson's Elk Refuge annually yields thousands of naturally dropped Elk antlers. Gathered by Boy Scouts, the antlers are auctioned the weekend before Memorial Day. The antler arches are on each corner of the town square.

CRAZY HORSE MEMORIAL, SD (07-03-16) -
This spectacular tribute to Native Americans was begun in 1948. The white line overlay shows what the completed view will be. The visitors center offers artifacts, close-up tours and more. It is privately funded and relies on donations.

DIAMOND PEAK, LAKE TAHOE, NV (03-20-17) -
Crystal Ridge at Diamond Peak is one of the most scenic trails of all Lake Tahoe resorts. The Lake, in the distance, provides a stunning backdrop with white-capped peaks in this snow-prominent winter. The trail, accessed by the Crystal Express high-speed quad, is the gateway to several blue and black trails.

SCHWEITZER MTN. ID (03-07-17) -
Snow ghosts stand guard by Schweitzer's new mountain top lodge. This new facility has a cafteria style dining room plus a bar and table service. It is a perfect rest stop on the many snow-filled days at this Northern Idaho resort. The lodge is easily found at the top of Schweitzer's "Great Escape" high-speed quad.

SUN VALLEY, ID (03-01-17) -
College, a famed Sun Valley trail, is another great groomer on the mountain. It overlooks the town of Ketchum, ID, - in the lower part of the photo and the Sun Valley Village - in the center of the frame. Sun Valley is located on the western side of the Pioneer Mountain Range in south central Idaho.

JACKSON HOLE, WY (02-25-17) -
New lifts and gondolas have become common place at JHMR, and this year the resort added the new Sweetwater Gondola. This eight-passenger gondola's mid-station adds convenience to the beginner area and continues to the Casper, All-Blue area of the resort.

STEAMBOAT, CO (02-13-17) -
New this winter at Steamboat was the Elkhead Express high-speed quad. This new lift facilitates access from the Sunshine Lift trails to the Mt. Werner peak area and the top of the gondola. This is one of six high-speed lifts plus the gondola at Steamboat. They provide access to trails for all abilities.
